How to Import Notes into Sowvia
Importing notes is most useful when the content is then structured by subject and turned into active revision tools like quizzes and flashcards. This guide shows you how to bring in material and make it work harder for your revision.
What you'll learn
- Paste, type, or upload source material
- Organize notes by subject and topic
- Generate quizzes and flashcards from notes
- Link notes to tasks and revision planning
- 1
Go to the Notes section
Select Notes from the left sidebar. This opens your note library, organized by subject. Each subject can contain multiple topic folders, and each folder holds individual notes. You can create a new note directly or start by importing existing content.
- Notes are organized by subject first, then by topic folder
- You can create a blank note and type directly, or import formatted content
- Notes sync across all devices automatically
- 2
Add your source material
To add a note, click New Note. You can type or paste content directly into the editor. The editor supports plain text, headings, bullet lists, numbered lists, and basic formatting. If you have existing notes in another format, paste them in and use the formatting toolbar to restructure them.
- Paste content from a PDF, Word document, or webpage directly into the editor
- Use headings to mark major topic boundaries within a long note
- Bullet lists and numbered lists are preserved when you paste from most sources
- Images can be added to notes for diagrams, charts, or annotated screenshots
- 3
Organize by subject and topic
After adding content, assign the note to a subject and optionally to a topic folder. This keeps your material alongside related flashcards, quizzes, and tasks. Well-organized notes are faster to search and easier to convert into revision tools later.
- Subjects group related material across notes, flashcards, and quizzes
- Topic folders let you break a subject into chapters or modules
- Notes without a subject assignment still appear in your library under Uncategorized
- You can reassign subjects at any time without losing content
- 4
Generate quizzes and flashcards from your notes
Once a note is organized, you can use it to create flashcards or a quiz directly from its content. Select the note, open the options menu, and choose Create Flashcards or Generate Quiz. Sowvia will use the structure of your note to suggest card prompts and question formats.
- AI-assisted card generation suggests prompts based on headings and key terms
- You can review and edit suggested cards before adding them to a deck
- Generating a quiz from notes creates a linked practice set tied to the same subject
- Both tools update independently of the original note — edits to one do not affect the other
- 5
Link notes to your revision plan
Notes can be connected to tasks and calendar blocks so your revision plan references the actual material you plan to cover. When a calendar block for a study session is active, the linked note opens automatically in the study panel alongside your flashcards and quiz for that subject.
- Link a note to a task to mark it as the primary material for that session
- Calendar integration means notes surface at the right time without searching
- Completing a linked task marks the note as reviewed in your progress tracker
